The Apostle Peter encourages us in our faith to be secure in our salvation knowing that He is there always to take care of us. Let's look at 1 Peter 1:2 elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied. (NKJV)
What an expressive verse! All three members of the Trinity are mentioned here, and all three members of the Trinity work to bring about our salvation.
The Father chose us before we chose him. (Ephesians 1:4) "just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love."
Jesus Christ, the Son, died for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:6-10)
The Holy Spirit brings us the benefits of salvation and sets us apart (makes us holy, sanctifies us) for God's service. (2 Thessalonians 2:13) "But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit ad belief in the truth."
What an awesome God we have! Peter is encouraging us to stand firm, that our salvation and security rest in the free and merciful choice of almighty God; no trials or persecutions can take away the eternal life He gives to those who believe in Him.
No matter how great the hardship, God will meet the need of the dear believer, the one whom He has elected to be His own.
